TerraOptics ("we," "us," or "our") is a livestock GPS tracking and ranch management platform operated by BioSync Industries, based in the Umpqua Valley, Oregon. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our website (terraoptics.io), web application (app.terraoptics.io), and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Account & Contact Information
When you create an account, request a demo, or contact us through our forms, we collect:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Ranch or business name
- Billing and payment information (processed by our third-party payment provider)
Livestock & Ranch Data
When you use the TerraOptics platform, we collect and store:
- Herd records (animal IDs, breed, age, health notes, lineage)
- Ranch and property information (name, boundaries, paddock configuration)
- Event logs (movements, treatments, observations)
- Any data you manually enter into the platform
Automatically Collected Information
When you access the Service, we automatically collect:
- IP address and approximate location
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on the Service
- Referring URLs
2. GPS & Location Data
TerraOptics integrates with Ceres Tag satellite-enabled GPS ear tags to provide real-time and historical location tracking for your livestock. This is a core function of the Service.
What we receive from Ceres Tag
- GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) for each tagged animal
- Timestamp of each location reading
- Tag device identifiers and firmware metadata
- Activity and behavioral data transmitted by the tags
How GPS data is handled
- GPS data is received via secure webhook from Ceres Tag infrastructure
- Data is stored in our database and associated with your account
- Location data is used to render maps, generate alerts, and produce historical movement reports within your account
- We do not sell GPS location data to third parties
- GPS data is retained for the duration of your account and for a reasonable period after account closure for backup purposes
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the TerraOptics platform
- Display livestock locations, generate movement history, and trigger geofence alerts
- Process your account registration, billing, and support requests
- Send transactional emails (account confirmations, alerts, password resets)
- Send product updates and service announcements (you can opt out at any time)
- Improve the Service through aggregated, anonymized usage analytics
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information or livestock data. We share data only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: We use third-party services for hosting (Vercel, Supabase), payment processing, email delivery, and analytics. These providers access only the data necessary to perform their functions and are bound by their own privacy obligations.
- Ceres Tag: As our hardware partner, Ceres Tag transmits GPS and device data to TerraOptics. We do not send your personal account information back to Ceres Tag.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government request.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers
- Encryption at rest for stored data
- Row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own ranch and herd data
- Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
- HMAC signature verification on all incoming Ceres Tag webhook data
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Delete your personal data and account
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of marketing communications

TerraOptics uses cookies and similar technologies for:

8. Children's Privacy
TerraOptics is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. 9. Data Retention
We retain your personal and ranch data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 90 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as resolving disputes or enforcing agreements). Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.
